The flavors in the kitchen nourish not only the palate but also the eyes and the mind. Similarly, every branch of art from painting to music, literature to sculpture finds inspiration in gastronomy. In this qualitative study, which started from this perspective, it was aimed to identify gastronomy-themed sculptures in Turkey. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a literature review was first conducted and information was obtained on the relationship between gastronomy and art and sculpture. Then, by referencing the news reports published by BBC, CNN Türk and Habertürk were used as references to identify sculptures that could be evaluated within the theme of gastronomy, and detailed information about these sculptures was collected. The sculptures reached were categorized under 4 headings: fruits and vegetables; local and street foods, edible plants and animals, and kitchen equipment. Information was provided on the type of gastronomy-themed sculptures, its geographical location, year of construction, and the individual or institution responsible for its creation was documented. The findings reveal that 51% of gastronomy-themed sculptures fall under the fruits and vegetables category, that the Mediterranean Region stands out in terms of the number of sculptures, that most sculptures were constructed in 2010 and 2016, and that the majority were supported by municipalities. This study aims to fill a significant gap in the literature by holistically examining gastronomy-themed sculptures in Turkey. By examining the intersection of gastronomy, a multidisciplinary field, with art, the study provides a novel perspective to the gastronomy literature and is considered an original contribution to the field.
Mutfaktaki lezzetler yalnızca damakları değil, aynı zamanda gözleri ve zihinleri de beslemektedir. Benzer şekilde resimden müziğe, edebiyattan heykele sanatın her dalı gastronomide ilham bulmaktadır. Bu bakış açısından yola çıkarak nitel olarak tasarlanan bu çalışmada Türkiye’de bulunan gastronomi temalı heykelleri tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma amacına ulaşmak için öncelikle literatür taraması yapılmış gastronominin sanat ve heykelcilikle ilişkisi üzerine bilgi edinilmiştir. Daha sonra BBC, CNN Türk ve Habertürk’ün heykellerle ilgili yapmış olduğu haberler referans alınarak gastronomi teması altında değerlendirilebilecek heykeller tespit edilmiş ve bu heykeller hakkında bilgi toplanılmıştır. Ulaşılan heykeller sebze-meyve, yerel lezzet-sokak lezzeti, yenilebilir bitki ve hayvanlar, mutfak ekipmanı olmak üzere 4 başlık altında kategorize edilmiştir. Gastronomi temalı heykellerin türü, bulunduğu bölge, inşa edildiği tarih ve kim/ hangi kurum tarafından yapıldığı hakkında bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Araştırmada gastronomi temalı heykellerin en çok %51 oranla meyve-sebze temasında yer aldığı, Akdeniz Bölgesi’nin heykel sayısında ön planda olduğu, heykellerin en fazla 2010 ve 2016 yıllarında inşa edildiği ve çoğunlukla belediyelerin desteğiyle yapılmış olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışma, Türkiye’deki gastronomi temalı heykelleri bütüncül biçimde ele alarak literatürdeki önemli bir boşluğu doldurmayı amaçlamaktadır. Multidisipliner bir alan olan gastronominin sanatla kesişimini incelemesi bakımından araştırma, gastronomi literatürüne yeni bir bakış açısı kazandırmakta ve alandaki özgün katkılardan biri olarak değerlendirilmektedir.
