                                                                                                                        <abstract><p>Dünya edebiyatı genel olarak, farklı coğrafyalarda üretilen ve küresel çapta dolaşıma giren edebî eserler olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu kavram, farklı kültürlerin edebiyatlarının ulusal sınırların dışına taşınmasıyla, diller arası etkileşim ve çeviri sorunlarının da ortaya çıktığı çok katmanlı bir alan niteliğine sahiptir. Dünya edebiyatı alanı, Pascal Casanova tarafından edebî eserlerin ve yazarların uluslararası alanda konumlanışını ele alan, hiyerarşik ve asimetrik bir rekabet alanı olarak ifade edilmektedir. Bu yaklaşım özellikle merkez dışındaki ve çevre edebiyatların uluslararası alandaki yerini değerlendirmek için bir çerçeve sunmaktadır. Casanova’nın kuramında “merkez”, edebî meşruiyetin üretildiği, estetik değerlerin ve modernlik ölçütlerinin belirlendiği güç alanlarını ifade ederken “çevre” ise bu ölçütleri üretmekten ziyade onlara tâbi olan ve uluslararası tanınma mücadelesi veren edebî alanları tanımlamaktadır. Bu açıdan dünya edebiyatı, kültürler ve diller arası etkileşimin yanı sıra ideolojik boyutları da içeren bir alandır. Bu bağlamda Sudanlı yazar Leila Aboulela, dünya edebiyatı alanında kazandığı prestijiyle önde gelen örneklerden biridir. Aboulela’nın eserleri, Müslüman kadın kimliği, din, tarih, göç, diaspora, kültürel aidiyet ve yabancılaşma gibi temaları, Batı edebiyatının normlarını sorgulayan bir tarzda ele almaktadır. Eserlerini İngilizce yazan Sudanlı Müslüman bir kadın yazar olarak Aboulela, dünya edebiyatının bu asimetrik yapısını hem doğrulamakta hem de tartışılır kılmaktadır. Bu makale, Leila Aboulela’nın eserlerini Pascale Casanova’nın kuramı çerçevesinde inceleyerek, yazarın merkez-çevre ilişkileri içinde geliştirdiği ve kabul gördüğü stratejilerine odaklanmaktadır.</p></abstract>

                            <p>World literature is generally defined as literary works produced in different regions and circulating globally. The concept constitutes a multi-layered field in which issues of interlingual interaction and translation emerge as the literatures of different cultures move beyond national borders. The field of world literature is described by Pascale Casanova as a hierarchical and asymmetric space of competition concerned with the international positioning of literary works and writers. This approach provides a framework for evaluating the place of off-centre and peripheral literatures in the international arena. In Casanova’s theory, the “centre” refers to spheres of power where literary legitimacy is produced and where aesthetic values and standards of modernity are determined. The “periphery”, by contrast, designates literary fields that are subject to these criteria rather than establishing them, and that struggle for international recognition. In this respect, world literature is a field that encompasses ideological dimensions alongside intercultural and interlinguistic interaction. Within this context, the Sudanese writer Leila Aboulela represents a prominent example through the recognition she has gained in the field of world literature. Aboulela’s works address themes such as Muslim female identity, religion, history, migration, diaspora, cultural belonging and alienation, often in ways that question the norms of Western literature. As a Sudanese Muslim woman writing in English, Aboulela both confirms and challenges this asymmetrical structure of world literature. This article examines Aboulela’s works within the framework of Casanova’s theory, focusing on the strategies the author develops and negotiates within centre–periphery relations.</p></trans-abstract>
