Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

The Düzce Mathematical Research (DMR) journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics. We follow the principles and flowcharts provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all stakeholders involved in the publishing process to act with integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

1. General Ethical Commitment

DMR is dedicated to supporting the dissemination of high-quality, original research in the field of mathematics. All participants “authors, reviewers, and editors” must uphold rigorous ethical and scholarly standards at all times.

2. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and consent to its submission.
Requests for changes in authorship after submission must be formally justified and signed by all listed authors.

3. Conflicts of Interest

All parties involved in the editorial and publication process must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could influence the integrity of the research.
Such disclosures must be provided upon submission and updated as needed throughout the review process.

4. Plagiarism and Originality

Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not have been published or submitted elsewhere. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.
To ensure originality, DMR uses similarity detection software such as iThenticate and Turnitin. Manuscripts with a total similarity index above 30% (excluding references) will be returned for revision or rejected outright.

5. Research Data and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to provide access to the data, code, or supplementary material supporting their findings to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
A data availability statement should be included in the manuscript. Where applicable, datasets and materials should be cited and listed in the references section.

6. Review Process

DMR implements a single-blind peer review process. While reviewers remain anonymous, author identities are visible to reviewers. Reviews are conducted fairly and objectively, and personal bias must be avoided.

7. Use of AI Tools

Authors are fully responsible for the content produced by or with the aid of artificial intelligence tools. Any such use must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript.

8. Ethical Approval for Human and Animal Research

Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must be conducted in accordance with ethical standards.
The manuscript must include:
• The name of the ethics committee,
• The approval date and reference number,
• A statement of informed consent (where relevant).

9. Handling of Misconduct and Ethical Breaches

DMR follows COPE's flowcharts to handle allegations of:
• Plagiarism
• Data falsification or fabrication
• Redundant or duplicate publication
• Undisclosed conflicts of interest
• Inappropriate authorship
Confirmed violations may result in rejection, retraction, or formal notification of the authors’ institution.

10. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

• Corrections are issued for minor errors that do not affect the study’s integrity.
• Retractions are published when serious misconduct or major errors are identified.
• Expressions of concern may be issued if misconduct is suspected but evidence is inconclusive.
All actions are guided by COPE’s retraction guidelines.

11. Special Issues and Conference Proceedings

DMR may publish special issues focused on specific themes or conference outputs. All submissions undergo the same rigorous peer review and editorial process as regular issues.

12. Complaints and Appeals

Authors and reviewers may submit complaints or appeals to the editorial team. All concerns are handled fairly and confidentially by the Editor-in-Chief and, when necessary, in consultation with the Editorial Board. For any complaints, please contact: dmrdergi@duzce.edu.tr
