Radiation Necrosis that is Diagnosed by Magnetic Resonance Spektroscopy in an Anaplastic Ependymoma Case: Case Report

Öz

Ependymoma is an uncommon intracerebral tumor and most ependymomas occur in the supratentorial compartment in adults. A mass was diagnosed during the control computerized tomography of a patient whose cranial computerized tomography, obtained for persistent headache, was normal previous year. Anaplastic ependymoma was diagnosed with post operative histopathological examination. After total tumor excision and radiotheraphy, tumor recurrence was diagnosed in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at post operative 8th month and the patient was reoperated; pathological examination revealed radionecrosis. Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) confirmed that the lesion was radionecrosis. In this article, the role of MRS in the differential diagnosis of tumor recurrence and radionecrosis was discussed

Anaplastik Ependimoma Olgusunda Magnetik Rezonans Spektroskopi ile Saptanan Radyasyon Nekrozu: Olgu Sunumu

Öz

Ependimomalar erişkinde nadir görülen ve daha çok supratentorial yerleşen tümörlerdir. İnatçı baş ağrısından yakınan, bir yıl önceki bilgisayarlı beyin tomografi (BBT) bulguları normal iken, kontrol BBT incelemesinde kitle saptanan hastaya, cerrahisonrası histopatolojik incelemede anaplastik ependimom tanısı konmuştur. Total tümör eksizyonuyapılan ve radyoterapi uygulanan, post operatif 8. ayda Magnetik Rezonans İnceleme (MRİ) ile tümör rekürrensi saptanan hasta reopere edilmiş, patoloji sonucu radyonekroz olarak bildirilmiştir. Yapılan Magnetik Rezonans Spektroskopi (MRS)‘de lezyonun radyonekroz olduğu doğrulanmıştır. Bu yazıda tümör rekürrensi ile radyonekrozun ayırıcı tanısında MRS’nin rolü irdelenmiştir
