<p>One of the most important features of forearm fractures in common childhood injuries is the difficulty in ensuring thecontinuity of the appropriate reduction during treatment. In this study,we evaluated clinical and functional results ofintramedullary titanium elastic nails in emergency service that are not available unstable diaphyseal forearm fracturesin children. We evaluated the functional and radiological results of 21 patients (6 female, 15 male) with displaced fractureof the forearm treated by intramedullary titanium elastic nails, retrospectively. Functional results of the patient wasperformed according to the Price criteria. We presented 15 (71.4%) male and 6 (28.6%) female of 21 patients withdiaphyseal forearm fractures in this study. The mean age of 11±2.17 years. According to fracture etiology, 5(23.8%) patients fall from the bikes, 10 (47.6%) patients fall on flat ground, 4 19.0(%) patients while playing football,1 (4.8%) patients fall from the stairs and 1 (4.8%) patients were tractor accident. 11 (52.4%) right and 10 patients (47.6%)in the left upper extremity. Open reduction were required to radius in 4 (19.0%) patients. Open reduction didn’t requiredto ulna. 3 (14.3%) patients had complications(1 patient had out of the nail from the skin and 2 patients had infection innail insertion site). The average time to union 7.38±1.53 weeks. The implants removed in average 11.29±4.33 weeks. The mean follow up of 24.29±9.12 weeks and functional criteria according to the price of 18(85.7%) were perfect, 3 (14.3%) were good the patients. Was not a poor result. The use of titanium elastic nail is aneffective method to treat forearm fractures in children method because of low blood supply, no physis injury and allowsto promptly resume joint activities</p></trans-abstract>

Bu çalışmada, acil servis şartlarında redüksiyon sağlanamayan instabil çocuk ön kol diyafiz kırıklarında, kanal içi titanyum elastik çivi uyguladığımız hastaların klinik ve fonksiyonel sonuçları değerlendirildi. İnstabil ön kol diyafiz kırığı tanısı konulan ve kanal içi titanyum elastik çivi uygulanan 21 hastanın (6’sı kız, 15’i erkek) klinik fonksiyonel ve radyolojik değerlendirilmesi retrospektif incelendi. Hastaların fonksiyonel değerlendirilmesi Price kriterlerine göre yapıldı. Ön kol diyafiz kırığı tanısı konulan 15’i (%71,4) erkek, 6’sı (%28,6) kız toplam 21 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Yaş ortalaması 11±2,17 (7-14) idi. Kırık etiyolojisine göre 5 (%23,8) hasta bisikletten düşme, 10 (%47,6) hasta düz zeminde düşme, 4 (%19,0) hasta futbol oynarken, 1 (%4,8) hasta merdivenden düşme ve 1 (%4,8) hasta traktör kazası idi. Kırık taraf incelendiğinde, 11 (%52,4) hastada sağ ve10 (%47,6) hastada sol üst ekstremitedeydi. Cerrahi uygulanan 21 hastanın 4’ünde (%19,0) Radius’a açık redüksiyon uygulandı.
