Use of qualitative methods in especially health çare and social çare studies has become increasingly vvidespread in recent years. The interest in qualitative approaches reflects new approaches in the study ofhuman behavior nowadays. Historically, nurses became sociaiized in a way that they could see the world from a biomedical point of view. Nursing comprises of factors such as understanding, confidence, flexibility, honesty, tolerance and commitment. The experts assert that these factors are feasible in qualitative research approach. The aim of this study is to increase awareness of nurse researchers relating to the grounded theory approach - being one of the qualitative methods becoming more and more popular in nursing - and to inform them. Aspects such as similarity with the philosophy of nursing, historical process of the method and theoretical structure, key components, methodological mistakes specific to the method in the literatüre and skills necessary for the researchers to work on grounded theory are described with regard to the grounded theory methodology. in nursing context, describing the experiences andemotions of participants by researches that based on generating theory is deemed important for it can direct nursing practices and improve the training and implementation programs and ali processes.Keyvvords: Nursing, grounded theory, gualitative research
