The agricultural sector forms the backbone of the Malian economy, contributing approximately 40% to GDP and 80% to employment. This study aims to evaluate agricultural challenges and policies for a sustainable Malian economy with an analytical approach. For this purpose, agricultural policies implemented to increase agricultural productivity, promote sustainability and support rural development were examined, and the effects of agricultural and rural development policies on the growth, productivity and resilience of the agricultural sector were analyzed. According to the findings of the study, the main challenges facing the Malian agricultural sector are climate change, land degradation, inadequate infrastructure, limited market access, vulnerability of small farmers, and the complexities of balancing traditional agricultural practices with modernization efforts. Considering these challenges, it was discussed how the agricultural sector can be improved, agricultural production can be increased and how it can be restructured for a sustainable Malian economy. It is crucial for the development of appropriate strategies and policies for the formulation of agricultural policies aimed at restructuring agriculture on a sustainable basis, modernizing agricultural production and developing rural areas.
