Determining the Relationship between Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors and Sexual Experiences of Men of Reproductive Age

Year 2025, Volume: 10 Issue: 3, 218 - 224, 31.12.2025

Abstract

This descriptive type study was conducted to determine the relationship between healthy lifestyle behaviors and sexual experiences of men of reproductive age. The research was carried out in two hospitals in a town located in the Central Anatolian Region of Turkey. Male healthcare workers working in the aforementioned two hospitals comprised the population of the study. The study was completed with 292 people. The mean scores obtained from the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II and Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale Male Form by the men of reproductive age who participated in the study were 136.04±18.41 and 12.44±2.91 respectively and 74% of participants had sexual dysfunction. Correlation analysis revealed a significant negative, low-level relationship between HLBS II scores and sexual dysfunction (r = –0.288, p < 0.001). Regression analysis showed that healthy lifestyle behaviors positively influenced sexual life, explaining 12.1% of the variance (β = 0.702, p < 0.005). The results of the study demonstrated that the healthy lifestyle behaviors of the participants were above the moderate level, that more than half of them suffered from sexual dysfunction, that positive changes in men's healthy lifestyle behaviors had a reducing effect on sexual dysfunction, and that healthy lifestyle behaviors in reproductive age men had a positive effect on the level of sexual life.
