Investigation of setae morphology of three ground spider (Araneae: Gnaphosidae) species

Abstract

The outer part of spiders' bodies is covered with structures called setae. It is known that these structures differ at genus level in ground spiders. In this study, setae morphology of three species belonging to 3 genera collected from Niğde province was studied. Micaria pulicaria (Sundevall, 1831), Berlandina nabozhenkoi Ponomarev & Tsvetkov, 2006 and Civizelotes solstitialis (Levy, 1998) were studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). As a result of the studies, squamose setae were found in Micaria pulicaria (Sundevall, 1831) and plumose setae were found in Berlandina nabozhenkoi Ponomarev & Tsvetkov, 2006. No covering setae were found in Civizelotes solstitialis (Levy, 1998).
