A comparative study on ground source heat pump systems in Mersin

Abstract

In present study, the thermal performance of a ground source heat pump system was investigated . A ground source heat pump system was designed theoretically in order to heat a detached house with the area of 168.7 m2 in Mersin province of Turkey. The heat loss of the house was assessed to be 10 kW. The coefficient of performance (COP) of ground source heat pump system using R134a was compared with that of the heat pump system using R410a. The COP of ground source heat pump system using the working fluid R134a was calculated as 7.24 while the COP of heat pump system using the R410a was determined as 6.66. The required length of heat exchanger for the ground source heat pump systems working with R410a was longer than that of the ground source heat pump system working with R134a .
