Development process of the cutting device in combine harvester : A review on patent studies
Abstract
This study examines the development of guard and blade mechanisms used in the cutting systems of combine harvesters. Based on patent studies in the literature, this review evaluates solutions to technical problems such as increasing the durability of the guard fingers, improving the efficiency of the cutting process, reducing maintenance costs and improving operational safety. Innovations involving the use of different materials such as sheet metal, plastic and forged steel have contributed to the development of more durable, lightweight and flexible cutting devices in modern agricultural machinery. In the light of patent data, the effects of these technological developments on the performance of mowers are discussed.
