Evaluation of Statistical Regions According to Preventive Health Service Indicators by Multidimensional Scaling and MOORA Methods

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the positions of statistical regions from 2020 to 2022 based on preventive healthcare indicators and rank them by healthcare performance. Methods: Statistical regions’ positions were determined using multidimensional scaling analysis with SPSS 21 software. The MOORA ratio method was employed to rank statistical regions based on their performance scores derived from preventive health service indicators. The analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel. Results: The highest average visits to physicians per capita in primary care was 4.11 (±0.65) in 2022, while the lowest was 2.95 (±0.49) in 2021. The number of family health centers peaked at 2266.25 (±1236.6) in 2020 and dropped to its lowest at 2228.08 (±1282.74) in 2021. The top-performing regions according to MOORA were the East Black Sea in 2020, Aegean in 2021, and West Marmara in 2022, while Southeast Anatolia consistently ranked 11th across all three years. Conclusion: There was an increase in follow-up and vaccination rates, among the indicators of preventive health services at the statistical region level, in 2021-2022 compared to 2020. Despite having the characteristics of a developed region, Istanbul ranked last in 2020 and 2022 according to performance scores.
