                                                                                                <abstract><p>Bu çalışmada, yeni bir kuraklık indeksi olarak teklif edilen “Bütünleşik Kuraklık İndeksi” (BKİ) kullanılarak Aksaray ili için kuraklık analizi yapılmıştır. Kuraklık analizi için literatürde teklif edilen pek çok indeks arasında en çok kabul gören “Normalleştirilmiş Yağış İndeksi” (NYİ) metodu ile BKİ metodu karşılaştırılmış ve farkları ortaya konulmuştur. BKİ metodu ile kuraklık analizi için 1969-2000 yılları arasındaki toplam 372 aylık yağış, akarsu debisi, buharlaşma ve sıcaklık verileri kullanılmıştır. Akarsu akım verisi olarak Karasu nehri aylık akımtoplamları kullanılmıştır. Sadece aylık yağış verileri ile hesaplanabilen ve yorumlama kolaylığı açısından yaygınolarak kullanılan NYİ metodu ile BKİ metodu arasındaki farklılıklar ortaya konulmuştur. Çoklu zaman dilimleri için hesaplanabilen ve yüzey suyu, yağış gibi parametrelerin uzun dönem değişimleri ile ilişkilendirilen NYİ metodu ile 1950-2008 yılları arasındaki bu değişimlerde çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde incelenmiştir. BKİ sonuçlarında sulak ve kurak dönemler arası geçişlerin daha sık hesaplandığı ve daha şiddetli sulak dönemlerbulunduğu görülmüştür. Aylık kuraklık karşılaştırmalarda BKİ ile Karasu akım verisi arasında Şubat ve Ekim aylarında uyum bulunamamış, Nisan, Mayıs aylarında en iyi uyum bulunmuştur.</p></abstract>
