The purpose of the presentstudy was to reveal the urban areas in cities in Turkey in 2010 and toinvestigate the relationship of these urban areas with the socio-economicindicators of the urban areas using GIS technologies. In the study, thenighttime images belonging to the year of 2010 were used to determine the urbanareas. The study included three parts. In the first part, the nighttime imagesof 2010 were classified with the cell-based classification method to reveal theurban areas. In the second part, based on the Principle Components Analysis,the development order of the cities was obtained using the socio-economicindicators of the cities. In the last part, the relationship between the urbanareas and the socio-economic development was examined and explained usingcorrelation and multi-linear regression analysis. Besides these analyses, MoranI analysis was conducted to determine the spatial distribution andauto-correlation of the variables.According to the urban arearesults, the cities with the largest urban area were located in the western andmiddle parts of the country. Similarly, the cities with higher developmentlevels were more in the western part, while the underdeveloped cities weremostly located in the eastern and southeastern parts of the country. Inaddition, the results of the multi-linear regression analysis regarding therelationship between the socio-economic indicators and urban areas revealedthat the indicator group with the highest rate of explaining the urban areaincluded the demographic and economic indicators. The results of Moran I demonstratedthat both socio-economic development and urban area had spatialauto-correlation.
Çalışmamızda Türkiye deki illerin 2010 yılınakentsel alanlarının ortaya çıkarılması ve bu kentsel alanların kentinSosyo-ekonomik göstergelerle ilişkinin CBS teknolojileri kullanılarakirdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmamızda kentsel alanların tespit edilmesinde2010 yılına ait gece görüntüleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamız üç kısımdanoluşmaktadır. İlk kısımda 2010 yılına ait gece görüntüleri hücre tabanlısınıflandırma yöntemine göre sınıflandırılarak kentsel alanlar ortayaçıkarılmıştır. İkinci kısımda Temel Bileşenler Analizine göre illere aitSosyo-ekonomik göstergeler kullanılarak illerin gelişmişlik sıralaması eldeedilmiştir. Son kısımda ise kentsel alanlar ile Sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişlikarasındaki ilişki korelasyon ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi yapılarakaçıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu analizlerin yanı sıra değişkenlerin mekânsaldağılımını ve otokorelasyonunun tespiti için Moran I analizi yapılmıştır.Kentsel alan sonuçlarına göre en büyük kentsel alanasahip illerin ülkenin batı ve orta kısmında yer aldıkları görülmüştür. Benzerşekilde gelişmişlik sıralaması üst sıradaki iller ülkenin batı kesimine doğruyoğunlaşırken, az gelişmiş illerin doğu ve güneydoğu bölgelerinde olduğu sonucuortaya çıkmıştır. Sosyo-ekonomik göstergeler ve kentsel alan arasındaki çoklu doğrusalregresyon analizi sonuçlarına göre kentsel alanı en yüksek açıklama oranınasahip gösterge grubunun demografik ve mali göstergeler olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.Moran I sonuçlarında hem Sosyo-ekonomik gelişmişliğin hem de kentsel alanınmekânsal otokorelasyon içinde olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.
