A CASE STUDY IN ADANA AND SAMSUN: DETERMINATION OF CLOUD TOP HEIGHT BY USING RADAR AND SKEW TLOGP DIAGRAMS
Abstract
In Turkey, the prevalence of severe weather events increases markedly in recent years. It
affects people's lives in a negative way.Forecast of severe weathers events and determination of
risky areas of severe weather events, monitoring of these areas later in products, such as radar
and satellite, it is important for the preparation of early warning. Skew-T LogP diagrams is one of
the most important of parameters that are used in the analysis of the vertical structures of air of
the atmosphere. Also Meteorological radars in the follow-up of cloud cause severe weather is
one of the most important parameters. Proper analysis Skew-T LogP diagrams plays an
important role in identifying risk areas of air parcels and can provide detailed information on the
ambient air. Skew T Log P can help to estimare the Overshooting top. In this study, Oversooting
Top which is obtained by Skew T logP diagram compared with top of cloud values which is
obtained by Radar Max products. Finally, The results were found to be compatible with each
other.
