A Conflict Resolution Model Identifying Cause and Effect Relations by Using Fuzzy Expert System

Year 2017, Volume: 4 Issue: 4, 67 - 83, 27.12.2017

Abstract

Conflicts in public
construction works usually comprise many complex and interrelated factors that
mostly stem from contracting parties’ contradictions including ambiguity and
vagueness. Resolution process through a court system is a costly,
time-consuming activity and could delay the completion of a construction
project. Therefore, planned public services might be postponed and both the
project cost and the project quality might be adversely affected. The aim is to
develop a conflict resolution model by using fuzzy expert systems, establishing
a cause and effect relation according to both sides’ opinions.
