Objective: This study is carried out as descriptive to identify the views of fourth year nursing students of a nursing school and nurses employed at clinics where students were enrolled for an internship practice program, which was recently incorporated into the education program of a nursing school. Material and Methods: Study sample is composed of 38 fourth year students enrolled at Gazi Unıversity School of Nursing, and 38 volunteered nurses working at Gazi University Hospital and private hospitals where the internship practice for students performed. As a data collecting tool, ‘Survey Form' including descriptive data about the students and nurses and their view on intern practices were used. Data was analyzed by using the percentages. Results: As a result of this study, viewpoint of students indicated that the manipulation skills of most students, their self confidence and commitment to profession were increased, and their knowledge and responsibility were improved. The nurses' first view was that students' knowledge and skills are increased. These viewpoints were followed by nurses' opinion that students' adoption to the profession, their self confidence, communications skills and responsibility were increased. Conclusion: It was identified that internship practice was useful in terms of professional development of students. and this programme should be continued. The progress of intern program by providing appropriate physical condition and increasing the time period has been suggested.
Amaç: Bu çalışma, bir hemşirelik yüksekokulu programına yeni dahil edilen intörnlük programı kapsamında uygulama yapan dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin ve uygulamanın yapıldığı kliniklerde görev yapan hemşirelerin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini, Gazi Üniversitesi Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu 2005 – 2006 Öğretim yılı Bahar sömestrinde intörnlük uygulaması yapan gönüllü 38 dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi ve uygulamanın yapıldığı Gazi Üniversitesi Hastanesi ve özel hastanede çalışan, araştırmayı kabul eden 38 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak, öğrencilerin ve hemşirelerin tanıtıcı özelliklerini ve intörnlük uygulamasına ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla geliştirilen anket formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde yüzdelik hesaplaması yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda intörnlük uygulaması sonrası öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun el becerilerinin arttığı, kendilerine olan güvenlerinin ve mesleğe olan sevgilerinin arttığı, bilgi ve sorumluluk duygularının geliştiğine ilişkin görüş sahibi olduğu saptanmıştır. Hemşirelerin intörnlük uygulamasına ilişkin görüşleri arasında birinci sırada öğrencilerin bilgi ve becerisinin arttığına ilişkin görüş yer almıştır. Bunu; öğrencilerin mesleğe uyum sağlaması, kendilerine olan güvenlerinin artması, iletişim becerileri ve sorumluluk duygusunun artması ile ilgili görüşlerinin takip ettiği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç ve Öneriler: İntörnlük uygulamasının hem öğrenciler hem de hemşireler tarafından mesleki gelişim açısından yararlı bir uygulama olduğu saptanmıştır. Uygulamanın uygun fizik ortam sağlanarak ve süresinin artırılarak devam etmesi önerilmiştir.
