<p>Colorectal cancers are one of the most common types of cancer in women and men and surgical treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the treatment of these cancers. Due to the area of carcinoma, end-to-end anastomosis or colostomy is performed after resection. Colostomy, which is created to help individuals live longer and help them to return to a healthy and productive life, can also cause many physical, social, cognitive and emotional problems. These problems negatively affect the quality of life of persons with colostomy. This review article has been written in order to reveal the effects of stoma surgery on individual’s life and the nursing interventions for encountered problems after opening a stoma.</p></trans-abstract>
