Community policing promotes active citizen participation in governance, fostering collaboration between law enforcement and the public through open dialogue and feedback. This engagement enhances community-driven security efforts by integrating specialized, corporate, local, and practical knowledge to generate innovative and responsive policing strategies. Research Methods: This exploratory study employs a qualitative descriptive research approach, utilizing secondary data sources such as interviews with frontline police officers, mid-level and senior officials, as well as unpublished documents from verified organizations. Findings: The study finds that increasing crime rates have diminished public trust in law enforcement, leading to heightened insecurity and reduced social cohesion. This decline in confidence negatively impacts overall well-being, hindering community stability and effective collaboration in maintaining safety and security. Recommendations: The Ethiopian government has taken steps to identify the root causes of this issue and implement measures for more effective community policing. Law enforcement agencies have fostered community participation in problem-solving initiatives and introduced programs to equip citizens with the necessary knowledge and skills for addressing crime-related challenges. These efforts have contributed to restoring public confidence and enhancing community well-being by promoting peace and security.
