Reliability, Validity, and Cultural Adaptation of the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire in Employed Turkish Population with Low Back Pain

Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to translate the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire (ÖMPSQ) into Turkish, perform its cultural adaptation, and evaluate its psychometric properties in employed individuals with low back pain (LBP). Materials and Methods: The ÖMPSQ was translated into Turkish using the forward-backward translation method. A total of 133 working individuals aged 18-65 years with acute nonspecific LBP were included in the study. Participants completed a sociodemographic data form, the Turkish version of the ÖMPSQ, and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, test-retest reliability was evaluated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), and construct validity was assessed via Pearson correlation analysis. Additionally, exploratory factor analysis was conducted. Results: The mean age of the participants was 41.71±12.53 years; 58.6% were female and 41.4% were male. The internal consistency of the ÖMPSQ was acceptable (Cronbach’s α =0.62). For 32 participants who completed the retest after one week, test-retest reliability was excellent (ICC=0.95, 95% CI: 0.94-0.96). A significant positive correlation was found between the ÖMPSQ and ODI scores (r=0.523, p<0.001). Exploratory factor analysis revealed a four-factor structure, which explained 69.4% of the total variance. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the ÖMPSQ was found to be a valid and reliable screening tool for employed individuals with low back pain. Its brief and multidimensional structure, as well as its ability to assess psychosocial factors, make it a valuable instrument for early risk screening in primary care and vocational rehabilitation settings.

Bel Ağrılı Çalışan Türk Popülasyonunda Örebro Kas-İskelet Tarama Anketinin Geçerlik, Güvenilirlik ve Kültürel Adaptasyonu

Abstract

Amaç: Örebro Kas-iskelet Tarama Anketi’nin (ÖKATA) çalışan bel ağrılı bireyler için Türkçeye çevrilmesi, kültürel uyarlamasının yapılması, geçerlik ve güvenirlik özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: ÖKATA, ileri-geri çeviri yöntemiyle Türkçeye çevrilmiştir. Çalışmaya, 18-65 yaş arası, çalışan, akut nonspesifik bel ağrılı 133 birey dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcılara sosyodemografik bilgi formu, ÖKATA ve Oswestry Disabilite İndeksi (ODİ) uygulanmıştır. İç tutarlılık Cronbach’s alfa katsayısı ile; test-tekrar test güvenirliği sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı (ICC) ile; yapı geçerliği ise Pearson korelasyon analizi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 41,71±12,53 yıl olup, %58,6’sı kadın, %41,4’ü erkekti. ÖKATA’nın iç tutarlılığı Cronbach’s alfa = 0,62 olarak hesaplandı. Test-tekrar test analizine katılan 32 bireyde ICC=0,95 (%95 GA:0,94-0,96) bulundu. ÖKATA ile ODİ arasında anlamlı pozitif korelasyon saptandı (r=0,523; p<0,001). Açımlayıcı faktör analizi sonucunda dört faktörlü bir yapı elde edildi ve bu yapı toplam varyansın %69,4’ünü açıkladı. Sonuç: ÖKATA’nın Türkçe versiyonu, çalışan bel ağrılı bireyler için geçerli ve güvenilir bir tarama aracı olarak bulunmuştur. Özellikle bireyin kendi kendine uygulayabileceği kısa, çok boyutlu ve psikososyal yönleri dikkate alan yapısıyla birinci basamak sağlık hizmetleri ve mesleki rehabilitasyon alanlarında klinik ve araştırma amacıyla kullanımı önerilmektedir.
