This article examines the publication performance and scholarly contribution of the Journal of Islamic Law Studies (IHAD) through a bibliometric analysis of its data spanning 2003–2025. İHAD stands as the pre-eminent journal in Türkiye, dedicated solely to producing academic research and scientific content in the field of Islamic law for twenty-three years. While various bibliometric studies have been conducted on certain theology journals in Türkiye or within specific thematic contexts, the absence of a comprehensive bibliometric evaluation of IHAD, despite its twenty-three-year history and rich content, represents a significant gap in the literature. Consequently, this study is the outcome of an effort to address this lacuna. The research aims, on one hand, to increase the visibility and appreciation of twenty-three years of scholarly labour and, on the other, to revise past shortcomings and errors to ensure enhanced performance in the future. To achieve these objectives, the study employs the bibliometric analysis method. By providing a numerical and contextual diagnostic of publications, bibliometric analyses offer an academic projection through subject distributions, author profiles, and citation data. By transforming parameters such as language, keywords, and abstracts, which define a journal’s publication character, into measurable data, this method comprehensively evaluates a publication’s structural dynamics and its impact within the scientific ecosystem. In this article, IHAD is subjected to a three-fold bibliometric examination: a) formal and categorical analysis; b) content analysis; and c) performance analysis. The analysis was largely conducted using the multi-functional Pivot Tables feature of Excel, while ‘Harzing’s Publish or Perish’ software was utilised for citation detection. The findings reveal that, although IHAD initially possessed certain formal deficiencies that were rectified over time, it has demonstrated an overall robust performance in terms of both academic and social impact. In the conclusion, a coding system model specific to Islamic law studies is proposed, alongside a strategic projection for digital transformation within the field.
Bu makale, İslam Hukuku Araştırmaları Dergisi’nin (İHAD) 2003-2025 yılları arasındaki bibliyometrik verileri üzerinden yayın performansını ve akademik camiaya olan katkısını inceleme konusu etmektedir. İHAD, Türkiye’de yirmi üç yıldır yalnızca İslam hukuku alanıyla ilgili akademik araştırma ve bilimsel içerik üreten öncü bir dergidir. Türkiye’deki bazı ilahiyat dergileri üzerine ve bazı özel konular bağlamında birtakım bibliyometrik analizler yapılmıştır. Ancak yirmi üç yıllık köklü tarihine ve zengin içeriğine rağmen İHAD’la ilgili kapsamlı bir bibliyometrik analizin yapılmamış olması bir eksikliktir. Bu yönüyle bizim bu çalışmamız, söz konusu boşluğu doldurma amacına yöneliktir. Çalışma, bir yönüyle yirmi üç yıllık gayret ve emeğin daha görünür kılınmasını sağlayarak takdir edilmesini hedeflerken; bir yönüyle de gelecekte daha iyi bir performans göstermek adına geçmişte yapılan hataları ve eksiklikleri revize etme amacı gütmektedir. Zikredilen hedefler doğrultusunda başvurulan yol, bibliyometrik analiz yöntemidir. Yayınların sayısal ve içeriksel röntgenini çeken bibliyometrik analizler; konu dağılımları, yazar profili ve atıf verileri üzerinden akademik bir projeksiyon sunmakta, bir derginin yayın karakterini belirleyen dil, anahtar kelime ve özet gibi parametreleri ölçülebilir verilere dönüştürerek, o yayının bilimsel ekosistemdeki etkisini ve yapısal dinamiklerini kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirmektedir. Makalede İHAD, a) şekilsel ve kategorik analiz; b) içerik analizi ve c) performans analizi olmak üzere üç farklı açıdan bibliyometrik incelemeye tabi tutulmuştur. Analiz esnasında büyük ölçüde Excel programının çok işlevli Pivot Tables özelliği ile atıf tespitleri için ‘Harzing’s Publish or Perish’ yazılımı kullanılmıştır. İncelemeler sonucunda İHAD’ın, zamanla giderilen birtakım şekilsel eksiklikleri olsa da akademik ve sosyal etki anlamında kümülatif olarak oldukça iyi bir performans sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Makalenin sonuç kısmında, İslam hukuku çalışmalarına özgü bir kodlama sistemi modeli ve bu alandaki dijital dönüşüm için bir projeksiyon önerisinde bulunulmuştur.
