A Bibliometric Analysis of Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair in Primary Teeth
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the bibliometric characteristics of studies in the literature concerning the 'lesion sterilization and tissue repair' (LSTR) technique, which involves the use of antibiotic paste for root canal disinfection in primary teeth.
Materials and Methods: Within the scope of the study, a search was conducted using keywords related to the subject in the WoS-CC database. Bibliometric parameters such as the number of citations, the institution/institutions to which the authors are affiliated, the country where the study was conducted, the journal in which it was published, the index and impact factor of the journal, the publisher, the study design, the year of publication, and keywords were analyzed.
Results: Using keywords related to the subject, 49 articles were reached in the WoS-CC database and 31 articles that met the eligibility criteria were selected and bibliometric analysis was performed. It was seen that clinical research studies were conducted the most (n=15) as a study design. When the distribution of published articles was examined according to years, it was seen that the interest in the subject increased as of 2012. The most studies were conducted in India and Brazil and the country with the most citations was Japan. The journals “Contemporary Clinical Dentistry”, “Cureus Journal of Medical Science” and “Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry” contain the most publications related to the subject.
Conclusion: In recent years, it has been observed that many publications have been added, especially in the form of clinical research articles, regarding the “lesion sterilization and tissue repair” technique. The highest number of publications on the subject have been made in India and Brazil. In order to create standard treatment guidelines in clinical practice, comprehensive studies on the subject should be encouraged.
