FATIGUE ANALYSIS OF AN APPARATUS DESIGNED FOR MUSSEL STORAGE

Abstract

Mussel harvesting and storage require efficient and durable apparatuses to ensure operational productivity and worker safety. This study evaluates the fatigue performance of a mussel storage apparatus with two different hole diameters (8 mm and 10 mm) using finite element analysis (FEA). The apparatus was designed in SolidWorks, and fatigue assessments were performed in ANSYS Workbench under varying pressure conditions. Numerical results indicate that hole diameter significantly affects fatigue life, with smaller geometric variations leading to substantial differences in structural performance. The obtained findings provide valuable insights that may contribute to future studies aimed at designing robust and ergonomically optimized storage solutions, thereby enhancing efficiency and safety in mussel aquaculture operations.
