Two New Polygonum (Polygonaceae) Species from Elazığ (Türkiye)

Abstract

The species Polygonum aybukeae M. Keskin & Sonay and Polygonum karakocanense M. Keskin & Sonay are described from the Karakoçan district of Elazığ province. P. aybukeae is a perennial species and is closely related to the species P. elazigense that is described from the Karakoçan district and P. setosum. It differs from them in its shorter stature, narrow leaves, and short tepals. P. karakocanense is an annual species, related to P. aviculare L. and P. rurivagum Jord. ex Boreau, It is distinguished by its leaf measurements, particularly its 1-veined leaves on both the underside and upper surface, its backward-curved pedicels, and its deeply concave achenes.
