Research-based Learning in Times of Mass Education? The Development of the German University under the Mission Statement of the Unit of Education and Research

Öz

The article thematizes the aspect of research-based-education in the German system of higher education. The focus is founded on the developments from the Second World War to the present in a theoretical controversy. These times are characterized by an increasing inclusion of wide-ranging groups of the population in higher education combined with stagnating governmental finances for education, and the rising economization of education. Terms like competitiveness, efficiency enhancement, standardization or the development to an organization are shifting in the center of mass education. This is correlated to a change in the personnel and university structure. The questions is, how is the humboldt’sche postulate of researchbased-education in this requirements still possible?

Öz

Der vorliegende Artikel befasst sich mit dem Aspekt Forschungsbasierter
Lehre im deutschen Hochschulsystem. Dabei wird in theoretischer Auseinandersetzung
die vergangene Entwicklung der deutschen Hochschullandschaft seit dem Zweiten
Weltkrieg betrachtet. Diese ist geprägt von einer zunehmenden Inklusion breiter
Bevölkerungsteile bei gleichzeitig stagnierender finanzieller Grundausstattung der
Hochschulen, sowie der wachsenden Ökonomisierung von Bildung. Begriffe wie
Wettbewerbsfähigkeit, Effizienzsteigerung, Standardisierung oder die Entwicklung zur
Organisation rücken hierbei in den Fokus der Massenausbildung. In Zusammenhang
damit kommt es zu einer Veränderung innerhalb der Universitäts- sowie der
Personalstruktur. Die Frage, die sich stellt ist, wie das humboldt‘sche Postulat
Forschungsbasierter Lehre unter den derzeit gegebenen Voraussetzungen weiterhin
erfüllt werden kann?
