<p>Aim: The teratogenity risk of the drug exposed patients during pregnancies are evaluated by the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Pharmacology. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the consulted patients and to classify the properties of drugs exposed .Material and Methods: All consulted patients to the Medical Pharmacology Department During 30th April 2014-29th April 2015 period were evaluated from the database of the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and were included to the study. Patients’ age, pregnancy weeks and drug exposure data were collected during the selected period, retrospectively. Drugs which patients used were classified according to Anatomically Therapeutic Classification ATC system defined by World Health Organization and also were classified according to the system defined by US Food and Drug Administration FDA .Results: During the period 47 applications were recorded. Drug exposed patients’ pregnancy weeks were found as 8.3±3.8. Totally 136 active chemical substance exposed to patients were recorded. The exposures were frequently observed with drugs which were included in N group Nervous system group classified according to ATC n= 42; 30.9% . When the drugs were classified according to FDA’s pregnancy risk categorization, the most common used drugs were included in C group n=65, 47.8% . It was found that application for consultation mostly occurred with the drugs related with neurology and psychiatry departments. Therefore when prescribing a drug for women during the reproductive period , probable pregnancy should be closely examined. The drug’s teratogenicity information should be given to the patients while prescribing the drug. Besides effective contraception methods should be advised when prescribing a potential teratogenic drug during the reproductive period.</p></trans-abstract>
