The impact of body-mass index on new metabolic indices between classical and nonclassical phenotypes of polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS)

Abstract

Aims: The purpose of this study is to identify relationship between new metabolic indices -namely Triglyceride Glucose Index (TyG), lipid accumulation product (LAP), and Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) are investigated-and classical and nonclassical polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) phenotypes. Methods: Data were evaluated retrospectively which collected from 103 patients with PMOS (59 classical phenotypes, 44 nonclassical phenotypes). Results: Classical phenotypes group has higher body-mass index (BMI), weight, waist circumference, waist height ratio, LH levels, TyG, LAP and VAI levels than non-classical phenotypes. In according to lipid profiles, classical PMOS group has more atherogenic trend. The difference between groups in TyG, LAP and VAI is eliminated after adjustment for BMI. Conclusion: Since BMI adjustment eliminates metabolic differences between classical and non-classical phenotypes, therapeutic interventions may focus on weight loss and obesity treatment for all phenotypes of PMOS.
