                            <p>In this study, radioactivity existing in soil and water is analyzed in the region of Iğdır. For thispurpose, the radioactivity concentrations of soil and water samples collected from different points along theArmenia boundary of Iğdır and indoor radon concentrations were determined. Gamma spectrometric analysis ofsoil samples collected from different points of Iğdır was performed by using the Canberra and an HPGe detector.The radionuclide activity concentrations in 11 soil samples collected from the study area were measured throughgamma-ray spectrometry. The average activity concentration of soil samples in the investigated area were determinedas 15.7, 18.3 and 332.6 Bq kg-1 for the natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K, respectively. In addition to these,the fssion product of 137Cs concentration was determined 17.7 Bq kg-1. The radioactivity levels of 12 water samplestaken from Aras River were analyzed. The gross-alpha and gross-beta activities were determined using a BertholdLB770 an alpha/beta counter of low background multiple detector type system. According to the data collected, itis found that maximum levels which are determined by the World Health Organization not achieved. In this study,track etch flm (CR-39) was used to determine the distribution of radon levels in dwellings. The average indoorradon concentration was obtained as 105. 62 Bq m-3.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Bu çalışmada Iğdır yöresine ait toprak ve sudaki radyoaktivite incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla Iğdır ilinindeğişik noktalarından alınan toprak ve su örneklerinin radyoaktif çekirdek konsantrasyonları ve ev içi radonkonsantrasyonları belirlendi. Iğdır ili sınırları içerisinde 11 farklı noktadan alınan toprak örneklerinin gammaspektrometrik analizi Canberra marka HPGe dedektörü kullanılarak yapılmıştır. İlgilenilen alanlarda topraktakiortalama aktivite konsantrasyonları sırasıyla, 238U, 232Th ve 40K için 15.7, 18.3 ve 332.6 Bq kg-1 olarak bulunmuştur.Bunlara ek olarak, fsyon ürünü olan 137Cs konsantrasyonu 17.7 Bq kg-1 olarak bulunmuştur. Aras nehrinden alınansu örnekleri, Berthold LB770 marka düşük doğal fonlu bir alfa/beta sayım sistemi kullanılarak ölçülmüştür. Eldeedilen verilere göre Dünya Sağlık Örgütünün içme suları için belirtilmiş olduğu sınır değerlerinin aşılmadığıgörülmüştür. Iğdır ili ev içi ortalama radon konsantrasyonu ise pasif CR-39 nükleer iz dedektörleri kullanılarak105.62 Bq m-3 olarak bulunmuştur</p></abstract>
