Öz

SONUÇ ve ÖZET

Yukarda açıklandığı üzere parsiyel protezlerin bazı özelliklere sahip olması gerekir: Öncelikle oklüzal tırnaklar ve iyi adapte olan kaide plakları vasıtasiyie destek temin edilmelidir. İkinci olarak,reciprocal kroşe kolları ve vertikal yönde diş yüzeylerine temas eden tali bağlayıcılar yoluyla horizontal hareketlere karşı protezin stabilizasyonu sağlanmalıdır. Üçüncüsü, ana bağlayıcılar, endirekt tutucular ve diğer kavrayıcı komponentlerle protez, rotasyon hareketlerine karşı stabil bir hale getirilmelidir. Sonuncu ve dördüncü olarak da, direkt tutucular kullanmak, kaide plakları ve ana bağlayıcılarla dokuların tatlı bir münasebetini temin etmek suretiyle retansiyon elde edilmelidir.

Görüldüğü gibi parsiyel protezlerin çeşitli parçaları ve bunların da özel kullanılış yer ve şekilleri vardır. Bu durumda parsiyel protezlere ilmî bir sebebe dayanmaksızın hiçbir ek yapılmamalı ve planlanmaları konusunda karışık şekillerden kaçınılmalıdır.

Parsiyel protezlerin yukarda belirtilen parçalarını tanımak ve bunların çeşitli fonksiyonlarını bilmek başarı için çok önemli ise de, tam yeterli değildir. Öncelikle ağız hazırlığı yapmak, protezin giriş ve çıkış yollarını tespit etmek, Kennedy sınıflandırmasına uygun olarak gerekli şekilde sentrik münasebeti elde etmek, kuron dışı tutucuların çeşitleri ve bunların ne zaman ve nerelerde kullanılacağını bilmek, kuvvet kırıcılar (stressbreaker), kuron için tutucular (intracoronal retainers) hakkında bilgi sahibi olmak gibi bu konuyla ilgili daha birçok problem vardır.

Parsiyel protezler, total protezlere giden bir yol olarak değil, definitif protezler olarak kabul edilmeli ve hastalara bu fikir aşılanmalıdır.

SUMMARY

This paper has only been a summarization of various components of partial denture; a summarization in which the components were added one at a time to show its purpose and use. One must always keep in mind that no components of a partial denture should be added arbitrarily. Each component or choice of component desigh should be added for a good reason and to serve a definite purpose. The reason for adding a component may be for stabilization, retention, patient's comfort, esthetics, preservation of the health of tissues or any of several reasons.

In this paper, it has been emphasized that partial denture must have support through the use of occlusal rests and through well fitting bases. They must be stabilized against horizontal movements through reciprocal clasp arms and contact of minor connectors with vertical tooth surfaces. They must be stabilized against rotational movements through the use of rigid connectors, indirect retainers and other bracing components. They must have retention through the use of direct retainers and by the intimate relationship of the denture bases and major connectors with the underlying tissues.

A partial denture should be considered as a final prosthesis rather than a step toward full mouth prosthesis. But so far as knowledge, judgement, planning and operative skill of the dentists are concerned the removable partial denture may play either of two roles: It may be a destructive one, increasing the forces already working to destroy the remaining natural teeth, or it may be a constructive one, supporting the remaining teeth by replacing lost elements and restoring form and function of the dentition.
