Patients before rhinoplasty surgery are likely to have social appearance anxiety, which may contribute to psychological well-being. Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social appearance anxiety and psychological well-being, as well as their effective factors among individuals deciding to undergo rhinoplasty surgery. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 112 individuals in a state hospital in ….province, Turkey. Along with socio-demographic information of the participants, the Psychological Well-Being Scale and Social Appearance Anxiety Scale were used to collect data. Results: The mean score of social appearance anxiety was 35.30±14.07 (score range: 16-80), which was 43.56±9.15 (score range: 8-56) for psychological well-being. The female gender, perceiving negative thoughts about their appearance from people around them, having no children, thinking about the surgery for 1-10 years were the preditor of social appearance anxiety; whereas males and perceiving positive thoughts about their appearance from people around them were the predictors of psychological well-being. There was a negative, moderate-level correlation between social appearance anxiety and psychological well-being, where one unit increase in social appearance anxiety affected psychological well-being by reducing 0.248 units. Conclusion: As per this study, psychological well-being of the patients is affected by thoughts about their appearance by the people, gender, duration of desiring for the surgery, and whether or not they have children, and social appearance anxiety reduces psychological well-being.</p>
