Conservative Treatment of White Spot Lesions in Anterior Teeth: A Case Report
Abstract
White spot lesions are early enamel demineralization lesions characterized clinically by dull, opaque, chalky, opaque white discolorations resulting from mineral loss on and beneath the enamel surface. This case report aimed to achieve single-session esthetic rehabilitation in a patient presenting with multiple plaque-associated white spot lesions in the maxillary anterior teeth, with cavitation observed in some teeth. Non-cavitated lesions were treated using the resin infiltration technique with the ICON system. In teeth exhibiting cavitation, minimally invasive adhesive composite restorations were performed following ICON application. At the end of treatment, a marked reduction in the visibility of white spot lesions was achieved, resulting in a more homogeneous and esthetically pleasing appearance in the anterior region. The combination of resin infiltration and adhesive restorative treatment may provide an effective and conservative treatment approach in selected cases.
