<p>This study examines the ethical issues caused by the sharing of scientific knowledge on social media platforms and their effects on academic reputation. With digitalization, scientists have become more visible on social media, allowing scientific knowledge to meet with the public. However, this new communication model also brings with it problems such as the decontextualization of information, the pressure of popularization, the increase in non-specialist interpretations, and the damage to academic reputation. The study analyzes the limits of social media-based scientific communication through figures such as Prof. Dr. Canan Karatay, Prof. Dr. Celal Sengör, and Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı; it discusses how scientists position themselves on social media, to what extent they are aware of their public responsibilities, and how they interpret ethical principles.</p></trans-abstract>
