<p>Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease that is prevalent on a global scale, negatively affects individuals&#039; quality of life, and imposes significant costs on the healthcare system. Nutrition stands out as one of the most important building blocks in controlling diabetes. This study was conducted to evaluate the variety of diabetic products available in supermarkets and the content characteristics of these products in relation to the dietary habits of individuals with diabetes. In this context, diabetic products sold in chain supermarkets in the Fethiye district of Muğla were examined, and their contents were categorized based on the information on the packaging and labels. The research findings show that the vast majority of diabetic products are sugar-free, low glycemic index, rich in fiber, and free of additives. However, the products included statements such as organic content, traditional production, and rich in fiber and protein to attract consumer attention. According to the results of the study, it was understood that not every product labeled “diabetic” is healthy, and therefore, it was emphasized that consumers should develop the habit of reading labels. The study concluded that product labels must be understandable and consumer awareness must be increased to enable individuals with diabetes to choose healthy products. Future studies should focus on the product selection criteria and knowledge levels of diabetic consumers and on the development of marketing policies for diabetic products.</p></trans-abstract>
