Yoganın hemşirelerin psikiyatrik belirtileri, yaşam doyumu ve psikolojik iyi oluşuna etkisi: yarı deneysel bir çalışma

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 6, 684 - 690, 27.12.2025

Abstract

Ethical Statement

Araştırmanın etik onayı Kırşehir Ahi Evran Üniversitesi Sosyal ve Beşeri Bilimler Bilimsel Araştırma Etik Kurulu’ndan (21.03.2024, 2024-03/32) alınmış ve ardından araştırmanın gerçekleştirileceği kurumdan gerekli izin alınmıştır.

The effect of yoga on nurses' psychiatric symptoms, life satisfaction, and psychological well-being: a quasi-experimental study

Year 2025, Volume: 6 Issue: 6, 684 - 690, 27.12.2025

Abstract

Aims: This study aimed to examine the effect of yoga on nurses' depression, anxiety, stress, life satisfaction, and psychological well-being.
Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design was used. Yoga was implemented three times a week for eight weeks among 30 nurses working in a state hospital. Data were collected using the Introductory Information Form, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21, the Psychological Well-Being Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale.
Results: After the eight-week yoga program, nurses’ depression and stress levels significantly decreased (p<0.050). Although anxiety levels also decreased in the post-test compared with the pre-test, this change was not statistically significant (p>0.050). Psychological well-being increased significantly, while life satisfaction also showed improvement, though not significantly.
Conclusion: Given the high workload and stressful work environment of nurses, low-cost and accessible practices such as yoga, which have protective, supportive, and therapeutic benefits, may contribute positively to nurses’ well-being and the quality of care.
