KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOR OF MEDICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ABOUT DRUG STORE AND MANAGEMENT IN HOME

Abstract

In order to ascertain the connection between self-medication and the ownership of medications contained in the first-aid kit, this work gathers the characteristics of the family kits of Aldent University students by identifying their knowledge and practices. In order to achieve the therapeutic goals, set by the prescriber, the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines are crucial components that depend not only on the manufacturing process but also on the proper preservation in which they are stored. As a result, it is crucial that the stability characteristics that allowed the allocation of a useful life period will be maintained, necessitating that individuals take decisive parameters in the storage of medicines in their homes. An anonymous online survey was given to a targeted group of Aldent University nursing and pharmacy students who were at least 18 years old. Statistics were used to analyze the responses. The type of study was cross-sectional and non-probabilistic, proposing a mixed approach, seeking to analyze the knowledge and practices on the storage and handling of medications, considering the characteristics of the family medicine kit that students have in their homes. Participants in the study. Data collection was carried out on 440 individuals, who agreed to participate voluntarily in the delivery of data. Studies have shown that healthcare future personnel are uninformed of the dangers of unused pharmaceuticals, such as diversion, misuse, or accidental overdose. Patients, nurses, and pharmacists frequently have the most interactions about pharmaceuticals; as a result, it is crucial that children receive early instruction on correct handling and disposal. This shows that current storage practices are insufficient for the safe storage of medications. It is crucial for students to understand the importance of safe medication use as well as the need for fresh, dry storage of their medications in order to prevent deterioration and stability-related issues.
