Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of total mixed ration (Control, C), fermented total mixed ration (Control Fermented, CF) and fermented fattening feed prepared with by-products (By-product Fermented, BF) on fattening performance in Brangus male bulls. In the research, a total of 114 Brangus fattening bulls were used and divided into 3 main groups and 5 subgroups were formed under each main group. All bulls were weighed at the beginning of fattening and then monthly, dry matter consumption, daily live weight gains and feed conversion ratios were calculated. There was no statistical difference between the groups in the initial and final body weights of the animals (P>0.05). The average daily gain of the bulls were determined in the band of approximately 1.50 kg and no statistical difference was found between the groups (P>0.05). On the other hand, dry matter intake was determined as 10.68, 11.66 and 10.64 kg/day in the C, CF and BF groups, respectively, and a trend was found between the groups (P=0.08). Likewise, feed conversion ratios were determined as 6.93, 7.52 and 7.09 in the CK, CF and BF groups, respectively, and a trend was found between the groups (P=0.08). On the other hand, bulls fed with BF group; The group fed with K can reach the same body weight on the same days and are fed 2.81 TL cheaper per animal per day. It can be concluded that if by-products are fermented and given to Brangus beef cattle, there is no difference in fattening performance compared to other groups, but it provides great economic benefits.
