This review examines the edited volume titled “Payitaht Yeniçerileri: Padişahın “Asi” Kulları 1700-1826” [Janissaries of the Porte, The Rebellious Subjects of the Sultan, 1700-1826] which delves into the world of Janissaries and their connections and relationships as historical subjectivities in the context of Istanbul and the countryside. The book explores institutional and private relationships established by the Janissaries through various sources and with a holistic approach. In addition to analyzing the contribution of the book to the existing literature, this review also evaluates the methodology and resources used in the compilation and discusses the content of individual chapters.
Bu değerlendirme yazısı, İstanbul ve taşra bağlamında yeniçerilerin dünyasını ve onların bağlantı ve ilişkilerini tarihsel öznellikler olarak ele alan “Payitaht Yeniçerileri: Padişahın “Asi” Kulları 1700-1826” başlıklı derleme kitabı incelemektedir. Kitap, yeniçerilerin çeşitli kaynaklar aracılığıyla kurduğu kurumsal ve özel ilişkileri bütüncül bir yaklaşımla ele alıyor.
