Georgian language, which is in the Iberian-Caucasian language group, draws attention with its unique grammatical structure. The types of words that exist in the Georgian language also have a special place and richness of use in terms of grammar. The preposition, which is one of the types of words in the Georgian language, is expressed with different meanings and structures. Prepositions used with nouns and pronouns express concepts such as place, direction, time, cause in Georgian. In Georgian, prepositions used in connection with case affixes are elements that affect the overall flow and structure of the sentence. This origina-lity in the language provides research opportunities for Georgian language enthusiasts. This study examines the concept of “preposition” and its grammatical functions in Georgian. n the study, the Georgian language has “ვით/ vit, შორის/ şoris, გან/ gan, გამო/ gamo, მიერ/ mier, გარდა/ garda, გულისთვის/ gulistvis, შესახებ/ şesaḫeb, მიხედვით/ miḫedvit, მიმართ/ mimart, კენ/ ǩen, ზე/ ze, ში/ şi, ებრ/ ebr, დან/ dan, თან/ tan, თვის/ tvis, უკან/ uǩan, წინ/ ts'in, გარეთ/ garet, ქვეშ/ kveş, წინათ/ ts'inat, შემდეგ/ şemdeg, ახლოს/ aḫlos, აქეთ/ aket, გაღმა/ gağma” preposition types are explained. In line with the explanations about these prepositions (რაზიკაშვილი/ Raziǩaşvili, 2013), the understanding of the subject was enric-hed with sample sentences taken from the book ქართთული ხალხური ზღაპრები (kartuli ḫalḫuri zğaṗrebi/ Georgian Tales).
İberya-Kafkas dil grubunda yer alan Gürcü dili, özgün gramer yapısıyla dikkat çeker. Gürcü dilinde var olan sözcük türlerinin de gramer açısından ayrı bir yeri ve kullanım zenginliği vardır. Gürcü dilinde sözcük türlerinden olan edat, farklı anlam ve yapılarla ifade edilmiştir. İsim ve zamirlerle birlikte kullanılan edatlar Gürcücede, yer, yön, zaman, sebep gibi kavram-ları ifade eder. Gürcücede hâl ekleriyle bağlantılı olarak kullanılan edatlar, cümlenin genel akışını ve yapısını etkileyen unsurlardır. Dilde var olan bu özgünlük Gürcü dili meraklılarına araştırma imkânı sağlar. Bu çalışma Gürcü dilinde “edat” kavramını ve bu kavramın dilbilgi-sel işlevlerini incelemektedir. Çalışmada Gürcü dilinde var olan “ვით/ vit, შორის/ şoris, გან/ gan, გამო/ gamo, მიერ/ mier, გარდა/ garda, გულისთვის/ gulistvis, შესახებ/ şesaḫeb, მიხედვით/ miḫedvit, მიმართ/ mimart, კენ/ ǩen, ზე/ ze, ში/ şi, ებრ/ ebr, დან/ dan, თან/ tan, თვის/ tvis, უკან/ uǩan, წინ/ ts'in, გარეთ/ garet, ქვეშ/ kveş, წინათ/ ts'inat, შემდეგ/ şemdeg, ახლოს/ aḫlos, აქეთ/ aket, გაღმა/ gağma” edat türleri açıklanmıştır. Bu edatlarla ilgili açıkla-malar doğrultusunda (რაზიკაშვილი/ Raziǩaşvili, 2013) ქართული ხალხური ზღაპრები (kar-tuli ḫalḫuri zğaṗrebi/ Gürcü Halk Masalları) kitabından alınan örnek cümlelerle konunun anlaşılması zenginleştirilerek ifade edilmiştir.
