Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, gebelik dönemindeki kadınların beden imajının cinsel fonksiyon üzerine etkisini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı, kesitsel tipte gerçekleştirildi. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul’da bir eğitim araştırma hastanesinde bulunan gebe izlem polikliniğine başvuran 394 gebe oluşturdu. Araştırmanın verileri “Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu”, “Kadın Cinsel Fonksiyon İndeksi (FSFI)” ve “Gebelikte Beden İmajı Ölçeği (BIPS)” ile toplandı. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan gebelerin yaş ortalaması 28,86 ± 4,85, evlilik süresi ortalamasının 4,62 ± 4,19, %62,7 sinin 3.trimesterda olduğu, BKİ ortalaması 28,43±4,89 kg/m² olduğu saptandı. Gebelerin FSFI puan ortalamasının 24,25 olduğu, BIPS puan ortalamasının 80,77 olduğu saptandı. Üniversite mezunu olan, 1. trimesterde olan ve 1 çocuğu olan gebelerin FSFI puan ortalamasının anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu (p<0,05) bulunmuş olup, cinsel fonksiyonlarının olumlu yönde olduğu saptandı. Üniversite mezunu olan, 3.trimesterde olan, istemeyerek gebe kalan, obez olan ve çekirdek ailede yaşayan gebelerin BIPS puan ortalamasının anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu (p<0,05) bulunmuş olup, beden imajı algı düzeylerinin düşük olduğu saptandı. Gebelerin beden algısı olumlu yönde arttıkça; cinsel istek, uyarılma, lubrikasyon, orgazm ve doyumumun arttığı, ağrı veya rahatsızlığı azalttığı bulundu. Sonuç: Gebelikte beden imajı algısı çeşitli faktörlerden etkilenir ve olumsuz algı, cinsel işlev bozukluğu ile ilişkilidir. Üçüncü trimesterde cinsel fonksiyonlar belirgin şekilde azalır. Beden algısını destekleyici danışmanlık ve programlar önerilmektedir.

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of body image on sexual function of women during pregnancy.The study was conducted in a descriptive, cross-sectional manner. Method: The sample of the study consisted of 394 pregnant women who applied to the pregnancy follow-up clinic in a training and research hospital in Istanbul. The data of the study were collected with the “Introductory Information Form”, “Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)” and “Body Image Scale in Pregnancy (BIPS)”. Results: The mean age of the pregnant women who participated in the study was 28.86 ± 4.85, the mean duration of marriage was 4.62 ± 4.19, 62.7% were in the 3rd trimester, and the mean BMI was 28.43±4.89 kg/m². The mean FSFI score of the pregnant women was found to be 24.25, and the mean BIPS score was 80.77. The mean FSFI score of the pregnant women who were university graduates, in the 1st trimester and had 1 child was found to be significantly higher (p<0.05) and their sexual functions were found to be positive. The mean BIPS score of the pregnant women who were university graduates, in the 3rd trimester, had an unintentional pregnancy, were obese and lived in a nuclear family was found to be significantly higher (p<0.05) and their body image perception levels were found to be low. Conclusion: As the body perception of the pregnant women increased in a positive direction; It has been found to increase sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm and satisfaction, and reduce pain or discomfort. During pregnancy, body image perception is affected by various factors and negative perception is associated with sexual dysfunction. Sexual functions decrease significantly in the third trimester. Counseling and programs that support body perception are recommended.
