The Nineteenth Letter, a chapter in the book written by Bediuzzaman Said Nursi called "Mektubat" (The Letters) talks about the miracles of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and it is also called "Mu’cizât-ı Ahmediye Risalesi" (Treatise on the Miracles of Mohammad). In the Eighth Sign of this treatise (8th Subchapter), the narrations of the miracle the Prophet manifested in the water element are mentioned. Nine different narrations are included in this subsection. Bediuzzaman, who quoted some of these narrations by citing one or more sources, does not cite any source in some narrations; he says that they came with a sound report and he only mentions the first narrator of the hadith. According to the classical writing technique, the authors were contented with stating the author of the narration or the name of the book as the source, they did not include detailed source information as it is done today. Since Bediuzzaman Said Nursi also compiled his books according to the classical style, he generally did not include the titles of the narration section, the page and sequence number of the hadith. However, this issue has gained importance today and it has become a scientific tradition to give sources of views based on the fundamentals in the scientific works. For this reason, it has become important to know exactly the sources of the narrations given in the works of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi, who is a very influential scholar in our age. To present an example of the subject the sources of the narrations about the miracles of the Prophet manifested in the water element were determined and a comparison was made between the texts in this article. In other words, it has been revealed whether or how much the narrations reported by Bediuzzaman coincide with the narrations in the authentic Hadith and Siyer sources.
Bediüzzaman Said Nursî’nin telif ettiği “Mektubat” adlı eserinin Hz. Peygamber’in mucizelerinden bahseden On Dokuzuncu Mektub’un (On Dokuzuncu Bölüm) diğer adı “Muʻcizât-ı Ahmediye (s) Risalesi”dir. Bu risalenin Sekizinci İşaret’inde (8. Alt Bölüm) Hz. Peygamber’in su unsurunda tezahür eden mucize rivayetlerine yer verilir. Bu alt bölümde dokuz farklı rivayete yer verilmiştir. Bu rivayetleri bazen bir ya da birkaç kaynak zikrederek nakleden Bediüzzaman, bazı rivayetlerde ise kaynak belirtmez; bunların sahih bir nakille geldiğini söyler ve sadece hadisin ilk ravisini zikreder. Klasik yazım tekniğine göre müellifler genellikle rivayetin sahibini veya kitabın ismini kaynak olarak belirtmekle yetinirler, günümüzde olduğu gibi ayrıntılı kaynak bilgisine yer vermezlerdi. Bediüzzaman Said Nursi de kitaplarını klasik usûle göre telif ettiğinden genellikle rivayetlerin bap isimlerine, eserin sayfa ve hadisin sıra numarasına yer vermemiştir. Ancak bu husus günümüzde önem kazanmış, ilmî eserlerde nasslara dayanan görüşlerin kaynaklarının verilmesi ilmî gelenek haline gelmiştir. Bu sebeple çağımızda oldukça etkili bir bilim insanı olan Bediüzzaman Said Nursi’nin eserlerindeki bu eksikliğin giderilmesi önem kazanmıştır. Bu makalede ise Hz. Peygamber’in (s) su unsurunda tezahür eden mucizelerinin anlatıldığı rivayetlerin kaynakları tespit edilmiş, ayrıca metinler arasında mukayese yapılmıştır. Başka bir deyişle Bediüzzaman’ın naklettiği rivayetlerin sahih Hadis ve Siyer kaynaklarında yer alan rivayetlerle örtüşüp örtüşmediği ya da ne kadar örtüştüğü ortaya konulmuştur.
