Coğrafya, insan ile doğal ortam arasındaki etkileşimleri neden, sonuç ve dağılış prensipleri çerçevesinde sentez halinde açıklamaya çalışan bir bilimdir. Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri CBS ?nin okullarda yaygın bir şekilde kullanılması, konuların öğrencilere kapsamlı ve sistemli bir şekilde aktarılmasını sağlayarak etkin öğrenmeye hız kazandıracaktır. CBS destekli öğretim yöntemi, Coğrafya dersinde öğretmene yardımcı olarak dersin amaçlarını, içeriğini ve değerlendirme etkinliklerini daha işlevsel bir hale getirmektedir. Bu araştırmada da CBS destekli öğretim yönteminin dersin hedeflerine ulaşma düzeyine etkileri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla, Siirt Üniversitesi, Eğitim Fakültesi İlköğretim Sınıf Öğretmenliği programına 1.sınıf kayıtlı toplam 60 öğrenci deney ve kontrol grupları olarak belirlenmiştir. Genel Coğrafya dersi kapsamındaki “Nüfus” ünitesi, deney grubuna CBS destekli öğretim yöntemi, kontrol grubuna ise düz anlatım klasik yöntemi esas alınarak anlatılmıştır. Kontrol ve deney gruplarına ön test ve son test uygulanmış, sonuçlar betimsel istatistik “t testi” ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda, CBS destekli öğretim yönteminin Genel Coğrafya dersinin hedeflerine ulaşmadaki etkisi belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.

Geography is a science which tries to explain the relationship between human and natural environment according to the principles such as cause, result and disintegration of its. Using of the Geographical Information Systems at the schools commonly provides transferring the information extensively to the student and accelerating the learning in an effective way. Education method that is supported by GIS makes more functional the aims, contexts and evaluation activities of the lesson as an assistant to the teacher in geography lesson. In this study is trying to examined the effects of education method that supported by GIS in accession level of the aim of the lesson. For this reason chosen 60 students as an experimental group and control group who registered the Primary Scholl Department 1 th Class in Siirt Education Faculty. And Population Unit in General Geography lesson explained with traditional teaching methods for control group but explained to the experimental group by using GIS. Then it is applied Pre and Last Test both control and experimental groups and analyzed these tests using by„t‟ test. After analyze, try to determine the effects of the teaching method that supported by GIS to the goals of the Geography Lesson
