Totally 155 primary school in-service teachers had participated this study. Data was collected via open-ended questionnaire protocol and comparatively tried to be discussed considering some of the most common conceptions of giftedness. Findings indicated that primary school teachers’ perceptions’ about giftedness and their knowledge about giftedness and gifted children are inadequate for the realization and the nomination of the gifted children.</p></trans-abstract>

Çalışmaya, ilköğretim okullarında görev yapmakta olan toplam 155 öğretmen katılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin görüşleri açık uçlu anket görüşmesi yapılarak toplanmış ve alanın önde gelen bazı kuramlarıyla karşılaştırmalı olarak yorumlanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları, ilköğretim öğretmenlerinin üstün yetenek kavramı ve üstün yetenekli öğrenciler hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıklarına ve üstün yetenekli öğrencileri fark etme ve onları ilgili programlara aday gösterebilme konularında yeterli başarıyı sağlayamayabileceklerine işaret etmektedir.</p>
