<p>Determining the level of stationarity of the average consumption propensity is tested both theoretically and empirically in the literature. In this context, this study examines the stationarity of the average consumption propensity using the 1960-2023 data set for NIC countries. The Christopoulos-Leon Ledasma (2010) ADF unit root test, based on traditional ADF and Fourier Functions, was used. The traditional ADF unit root test revealed that the average consumption propensity was non-stationary at the level in all countries except Brazil and Mexico. The results of the Fourier Christopoulos-Leon Ledasma (2010) test determined that the average consumption propensity was non-stationary in all countries except Brazil, China, and Turkey. The study findings vary depending on the unit root tests with different strengths for some countries. The Christopoulos and Leon-Ledesma (2010) test, based on Fourier functions, has higher power than traditional unit root tests and provides more reliable results, especially in the presence of structural breaks. Considering that this test is more powerful than the traditional ADF (Augmented Dickey-Fuller) test, it is concluded that the average consumption propensity is not stationary in other countries except Brazil, China and Türkiye.</p></trans-abstract>
