The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of per capita income on life expectancy at birth in developed European countries, and to examine the mediating role of per capita health expenditure in this relationship. The study covers the period from 2010 to 2021 and includes 15 developed European countries for which data is available. Panel data analysis techniques have been employed in the study. The cross-sectional observations consisted of 15 developed European countries, while the time series was represented by the period from 2010 to 2021. The mediating effect in the study has been tested using the Sobel Test and bootstrap confidence interval. As a result of the study, it was found that per capita income had a significant and positive effect on per capita health expenditure, per capita health expenditure had a significant and positive effect on life expectancy at birth, and per capita income had a significant and positive effect on life expectancy at birth. Finally, it was revealed that per capita health expenditure had a significant and partial mediating effect on the relationship between per capita income and life expectancy at birth.
</trans-abstract>
