The objective of this preliminary study was to test the hypothesis that living at higher altitudes may be associated with reduced satisfaction following septorhinoplasty.MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirty-two patients who underwent septorhinoplasty were evaluated: 16 residing at 675 m and 16 at 1083 m. The groups were matched for potential confounding factors including age, sex, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), educational status, employment, marital status, smoking habits, and postoperative follow-up duration. Patient satisfaction was assessed using the Rhinoplasty Outcomes Evaluation (ROE) questionnaire.RESULTS: The two groups showed similar results in terms of age (p=0.669), gender (p=1.0), weight (p=0.626), height (p=0.119), BMI (p=0.911), education level (p=0.433), employment status (p=0.685), marital status (p=0.704), smoking rate (p=0.704), and postoperative period (p=0.985). In terms of ROE questionnaire scores, the statistical comparison between the two groups at different altitudes showed similarity (p=0.518).CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, the results of this preliminary study show no correlation between septorhinoplasty outcomes and altitude. The limitations of this study should be considered, and further research is needed in this area.</p>
