YENİ TİP KORONAVİRÜS COVİD-19 SALGINININ PETROL VE DOĞAL GAZ SONDAJ SEKTÖRÜNE ETKİSİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Öz

2019 yılı Aralık ayında Çin’in Wuhan şehrinden çıkıp dünya genelinde bir salgına sebep olan yeni tip koronavirüs Covid-19 insanların günlük yaşamını, sanayi ve üretim çarklarını ve ülkelerin ekonomilerini olumsuz etkilemektedir. Salgından etkilenen sektörlerin başında enerji sektörünün öncü kolu olan petrol ve doğal gaz sektörü gelmektedir. Yaşanan değişimler petrol ve doğal gaz talebinde ciddi düşüşlere ve bu durum petrol fiyatlarında dramatik azalmalara sebep olmuştur. Petrol fiyatlarının etkilediği kolların başında arama ve sondaj gelmektedir.
Bu çalışma; Covid-19 salgınının sebep olduğu gündelik hayattaki, sanayi ve üretimdeki değişikliklerin petrol ve doğal gaz sondaj sektörüne olan etkisinin değerlendirilmesini içermektedir. Salgın sebebiyle oluşan gündelik hayat, trafik ve seyahatlerdeki değişimlerle birlikte, sanayideki tüketim ve elektrik tüketimindeki değişimler de göz önünde bulundurularak petrol ve doğal gaz talebinde neden olduğu azalımlar değerlendirilmiştir. Bu talep azalmasının sonucu olarak dünya genelinde sondaj ve arama faaliyetlerinde ciddi oranda düşüşler yaşandığı belirtilmektedir. Salgının dünya genelindeki gidişatına göre sondaj ve arama faaliyetlerinde olabilecek farklı senaryolar sunulmaktadır. Gerek salgının kontrol altına alınma durumunun, gerekse olası tedavi ve aşı çalışmaları sonuçlarının ekonomilere, petrol fiyatlarına ve petrol ve doğal gaz sondaj faaliyetlerine olası etkileri incelenmiştir. Salgının devamlılığı ile ilgili farklı senaryolar yer almaktadır. Bu senaryolar sonucunda petrol ve doğal gaz sondaj sektörünün aktivite olarak salgın öncesi döneme dönmesinin zaman alacağı öngörülmektedir.

Assessment of the Impact of the New Type of Coronavirus Covid-19 Outbreak on the Oil and Gas Drilling Industry

Öz

The new type of coronavirus Covid-19, which left China's Wuhan City in December 2019 and caused an epidemic worldwide, adversely affects the daily life of people, industry and production wheels and economies of countries. The petroleum and natural gas sector, which is the leading branch of the energy sector, is among the sectors affected by the epidemic. The changes have caused serious decreases in oil and natural gas demand, which has caused dramatic decreases in oil price. Exploration and drilling are at the major division affected by the change in the oil price.
This study includes the evaluation of the impact of changes in daily life, industry and production caused by the Covid-19 outbreak on the oil and gas drilling sector. Along with the changes in daily life, traffic and travel caused by the epidemic, the reductions in oil and natural gas demand were evaluated by considering the changes in their consumptions and electricity consumption in the industry. As a result of this decrease in demand, it is stated that there has been dramatic decrease in drilling and exploration activities worldwide. According to the course of the epidemic around the world, different scenarios that may be involved in drilling and exploration activities are presented. The effects of both the control of the epidemic and the results of possible treatment and vaccination studies on economies, oil prices and oil and gas drilling activities were examined. There are several scenarios about the course of pandemic. As consequences of these scenarios, it can be inferred that it could take time for the activities in oil and gas drilling sector to return back to pre-pandemic conditions.
