                                                                                                <abstract><p>Jeopolitik, ekonomik ve ekolojik açıdan önemli bir yeri olan Marmara Denizi’nde yaşanan kirlilikteki artış son yıllarda farklı çevrelerin dikkatini çekmekle birlikte özellikle 2020-2021 yıllarında yaşanan müsilaj problemi sorunun ciddiyetini ortaya koymuştur. Literatürde iklim değişikliği, topografik yapı, artan nüfus, sanayileşme, tarım aktiviteleri, atıksu arıtma sistemlerinde kullanılan teknolojinin yetersizliği, vb. etmenlerin müsilaj oluşumunu tetiklediği öne sürülmektedir. Müsilaj sorununun çözümüne yönelik çeşitli stratejiler öne sunulmakla birlikte bu stratejilerin ne gibi sonuçlar doğuracağına ilişkin sayısal bir çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Bu amaçla bu makalede Marmara Denizi’nde görülen müsilaj olgusunu modellemek ve sorunu çözmeye yönelik politikaların etkilerini incelemek üzere sistem dinamiği yaklaşımına dayalı bir benzetim modeli sunulmaktadır. Önerilen model müsilaja neden olan temel mekanizmalar ile müsilajın ekonomik etkilerini temsil etmekte olup müsilaj problemini ortadan kaldırmaya yönelik çeşitli stratejilerin etkinlik seviyelerini farklı senaryolarla ortaya koymaktadır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre ileri biyolojik arıtma seviyelerinin arttırılması, tarım ve hayvancılık aktiviteleri için alınacak önlemler ve bölge nüfus artışına karşı alınacak önlemlerin bir arada uygulanmasının Marmara Denizindeki müsilaj riskini sınırlandıracağı sonucuna varılmaktadır.</p></abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
                            <p>The increasing pollution in the Marmara Sea, which is critical in terms of geopolitical, economic, and ecological aspects, attracts the attention of different circles, whereas the mucilage phenomenon of 2020-2021 has revealed the seriousness of the issue. In literature, it is claimed that factors like climate change, topographic structure, increasing population, industrialization, agricultural activities, and insufficient wastewater treatment technologies trigger the mucilage formation. Various strategies are suggested to solve the problem; yet, there is no quantitative study on the consequences of the proposed strategies. Therefore, in this study, a simulation model based on the system dynamics approach is presented to model the mucilage phenomenon in the Marmara Sea and to examine the effects of policies aiming to solve the problem. The proposed model represents the mechanisms mucilage formation and its economic effects; and displays the effectiveness of various strategies to eliminate the problem. According to the findings, it is concluded that combination of the policies of increasing advanced biological treatment levels, measures to be taken for agricultural and farming activities, and the measures to be taken against population growth in the region will limit the risk of mucilage in the Marmara Sea.</p></trans-abstract>
