<p>Today, various opportunities that facilitate communication, media, technological developments, easy information sharing and economic travel have accelerated the globalization process. Different ideas and cultures are in constant flow and relationship. This interaction has also affected literature, and transcultural literature comes into discussion. Haruki Murakami, the author of “Kafka on the Beach”, which was selected for this study, is not only a transcultural writer in global literature, but also a popular and internationally recognized author of contemporary Japanese literature. Based on the Turkish translation of this work, it was investigated how the author used and integrated elements of Western culture into his work with his unique transcultural strategy. Especially references to music and literature have an important place in his writing style. It was tried to show to what extent the life and behavioral styles of the characters in his works are affected by the phenomenon of transculturality in the example of the work mentioned above. References to issues such as the search for self, escape to another world and defiance of social values and norms were also searched. The study utilized the close reading technique and Christiane Nord&#039;s concept of “text world.”</p></trans-abstract>
