In this study, we have discussedYaşar Kemal’s book ‘Yılanı Öldürseler’ which is transferred to cinema filmversion in the context of communal gender. The work we discussed is in a veryeffective form about commenting and producing thesis on which is mentionedsocial/cultural problems such as communal gender, social norms,honor, custom,feud, etc. Yaşar Kemal’s book which isnamed ‘Yılanı Öldürseler’ puts into words tragedy of a child who lived inÇukurova and killed his mother because of community pressure. In this work, thedistinctive adjectives that the society imposes on characters through genders,responsibilities added to the individual along with these adjectives and howthese responsibilities oppresses the individual is presented to the audience ina dramatic way. Such that, the mother-in-law who is a female figure having aprofile as strong as a man in the patriarchal culture and free of femininequalities appears as the absolute power and is the biggest supporter of honourmurder. So, we tried to evaluate these constructs imposed by masculine culturein a critical point of view within the issues we mentioned within the communalgender framework. We will try to explain the other side of the coin bypresenting examples through the work of Yaşar Kemal who presents us the socialrealities of Turkish society with a fictional reality.
Bu çalışmamızda edebiyatımızın büyük yazarlarındanYaşar Kemal’in Yılanı Öldürseler kitabınınsinema filmine aktarılmış versiyonunu toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamında ele aldık. Elealdığımız eser toplumsal cinsiyet, toplumsal normlar, namus, töre, kan davasıvs. gibi birçok toplumsal/kültürel sorunun işlendiği üzerinde yorum yapma vetezler üretme konusunda oldukça mümbit yapıdadır. Yaşar Kemal’in Yılanı Öldürseler isimli eseri Çukurova’da yaşayan ve toplumbaskısı nedeniyle annesini öldüren bir çocuğun dramını ele alıyor. Bu eserdetoplumun cinsiyetler üzerinden kahramanlara yüklemiş olduğu belirgin sıfatlara,bu sıfatlarında beraberinde getirip bireye yüklediği sorumluluklara ve busorumlulukların da bireyi nasıl ezdiği dramatik bir şekilde seyirciye sunulmuştur.Öyle ki kadınsal niteliklerinden arınmış, ataerkil kültür içinde erkek kadar güçlübir profil çizen kadın figürü olan kayınvalide karşımıza mutlak güç olarakçıkmakta ve bu töre cinayetinin en büyük destekçisi olmaktadır. Bizde çalışmamızı toplumsalcinsiyet çerçevesi içinde bahsettiğimiz konular dâhilinde eril kültürün empozeettiği bu yapıntıları eleştirel bir bakış açısı ile değerlendirmeye çalıştık.Madalyonun diğer yüzünü, Türk toplumunun sosyal gerçeklerini kurgusal birgerçeklikle bizlere sunan Yaşar Kemal’in eseri üzerinden örnekler sunarakaçıklamaya çalışacağız.
