Selim İleri, son dönem Türk edebiyatının önemli isimlerindenbiridir. O, romanın yanında şiir, hikâye, deneme, anı ve inceleme türlerinde deeserler verir. Romancı yönü daha fazla bilinen Selim İleri’nin 2018 yılındayayımlanan romanın adı Elimde Viyoletler/Beklenen Sevgili’dir. Bu çalışma,yazarın bu romanı üzerine zaman, İstanbul ve Türkiye cumhuriyetinin ilk yıllarıbağlamında bir incelemeyi kapsamaktadır. Çalışma üç bölümden oluşmaktadır.Birinci bölümde Henri Bergson’un zaman görüşünün romana yansıması üzerindedurulmuştur. Bu noktada öncelikle Henri Bergson’un zaman anlayışı açıklanmış ardındanda bu anlayışın romanda bireysel ve toplumsal boyutta yansıması incelenmiştir.Son olarak Bergson’un zaman anlayışı ile ilintili olması nedeniyle müziğinromandaki işlevi ve geçmişi yok kabul eden zihniyetin ardındaki fikri yapıirdelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın “İstanbul’a dair Tespitler” başlıklı ikincibölümünde kimi yerleşim yerleri, Terkos Gölü, Bonmarşe mağazası,gayrimüslimler, kadın kıyafeti, kozmetik ürünler, bitkiler, şerbet ve reçellerbağlamında 1940’lı yılların İstanbul’u üzerinde durulmuştur. “Cumhuriyetin İlkYılları” başlığı altında ise 1930'lu yılların değişen Türkiye’sinin görünümü,Mersin’deki bir düğün bağlamında verilirken İstanbul’da bir üniversiteöğrencisi genç kadının algılanış şekline de değinilmiştir.
Selim İleri is one of the most important names in recent Turkishliterature. In addition to the novel, he also creates works in the fields ofpoetry, story, essay, memory and analysis. The name of the novel published in2018 of Selim İleri, whose novelist direction is more known, is ElimdeViyoletler / Beklenen Sevgili. This study covers a review of this novel of theauthor in the context of time, İstanbul and the early years of the TurkishRepublic. The study consists of three parts. In the first part, the reflectionof Bergson’s conception of time on the novel is emphasized. At this point,Bergson’s conception of time was firstly explained. Then,the reflection of this conception in the novel on an individual and socialscale was examined. Finally, because they are associated with Bergson’sconception of time, the function of music and the intellectual structure behindthe mentality that ignores the past in the novel are examined. In the secondpart of this study titled “Determinations about İstanbul”, İstanbulof the 1940s was discussed in the context of some settlements of Istanbul,Terkos Lake, Bonmarşe store, non-Muslims, women's clothing, cosmetics, plants,sherbet and jams. Under the title of "The First Years of theRepublic", the view of the changingTurkey in 1930s is given in the context of a wedding in Mersin. The way ofperception of a university student young woman in İstanbul was also mentioned.
